Welcome to Summer term

We hope that you have all had a lovely holiday and we are excited to hear about all of the adventures that the children have had.

Here is an outline of what we will be working on this half term:

Numeracy focus We will continue to use language related to addition and subtraction and will be writing our own number sentences.  We will use practical resources to help us solve the questions.  We will explore 2D and 3D shapes and learn their names and properties.
Reading Focus

Author of the Term: Martin Waddell

We will continue our daily Read Write Inc phonics sessions where children will embed and apply the sounds they have learnt so far.  Children will also be introduced to a range of high frequency words to aid their reading of simple sentences.

Writing Focus Children will continue to apply their phonic knowledge by writing words and simple sentences.    We will start this half term looking at the book “Blue Chameleon” and then move on to writing our own narratives based upon “Where the Wild Things Are”
Topic Our World

PE PE Sessions are on a Thursday.  Please make sure that children have their full PE kits in school all week and that all items of clothing have their names in.
ICT Using ipads and programmable toys
What can parents/carers do to help?
  • Completing homework – 3 or 4 out of 8 activities to be completed in a half term
  • Reading 5 times a week with your child
  • Supporting your child in recognising numbers in the environment
  • Contributing to your child’s learning journey on Tapestry
Learning Journey During your child’s time in reception their learning will be captured through observations, videos and photographs and uploaded onto Tapestry.  We appreciate that a huge amount of learning takes place at home and would really appreciate you uploading any special learning moments onto Tapestry.

Please do not hesitate to pop in at the end of the day if you have any questions or queries
