Welcome to Reception 2018!
We hope that you have all had a lovely Summer and we are really looking forward to having you all in our class! We are going to start the year finding out lots of information about you all. We will be reading books in class such as “The Family Book” by Todd Parr and “You Be You” by Linda Kranz.
Here is an outline of what we will be working on this half term:
|Numeracy focus||We will be practising our counting skills and applying this in different contexts. We will also be working on recognising numbers 0-10 and placing them in order. We will make and follow patterns and become familiar with 2D shapes.|
Author of the Term: Eric Carle
We will begin our daily Read Write Inc phonics sessions where children will learn Speed Sounds 1. As they become more confident with the sounds we will start to blend and segment to read words. The sounds that children have learnt each week will be on display near the classroom door so that you are aware of the sounds that we are learning.
|Writing Focus||To begin with we will be practising writing our names and writing simple familiar words as we become more confident with out sounds.|
|Topic||All About Me
|PE||PE Sessions are on a Friday. Please make sure that children have their full PE kits in school all week and that all items of clothing have their names in.|
|ICT||Using ipads and programmable toys|
|What can parents/carers do to help?||
|Learning Journey||During your child’s time in reception their learning will be captured through observations, videos and photographs and uploaded onto Tapestry. We appreciate that a huge amount of learning takes place at home and would really appreciate you uploading any special learning moments onto Tapestry.|
Please do not hesitate to pop in at the end of the day if you have any questions or queries
