Spring Term

Please find information about our Spring Term learning here:

 

English

During our English lessons we will be using the book called Skyward, this is based on female pilots during WW2. We will look at diary writing and bring in active and passive voice, semi-colons and a range of different tenses. We will also look at Newspapers after half term which we will recount the events of D-Day.

Shared Reading

We will focus on improving our comprehension skills and try to foster a love of reading through reading and discussing our class book Letters from the Lighthouse by Emma Carroll 

Maths

We will be continuing on our fractions and angles work and then moving to looking at decimals and percentages as the term progresses. We will begin revising key information for SATs too

Topic - History

We begin by looking at the causes of war and then specifically the cause of WW2. Children will explore the role of women, the impact of the Blitz as well as evacuation. After half term, we look at the changes in Britain after WW2, for example the Windrush Generation and the creation of the NHS

RE

We look at the story of Exodus in the first half term and then we will investigate ascension and pentecost as we lead up to Easter

Art /DT

In art we will be looking at the work of Henry Moore and create our own sculptures inspired by his work.

During our DT lessons we will create our marble runs  

PE

Our PE lessons for this half term will be gymnastics and House of Dance 

Music

During our music lessons we will be looking at a New Year Carol and Benjamin Britten as well as this we will look at You've got a Friend in Me by Carole King

PSHE/HeartSmart

Too much Selfie isn't healthy and Don't hold on to what's wrong will be the theme of HeartSmart this term.

Science 

First we will learning about light and electricity 

Spanish

In Spanish we will learn and talk about different sports 

Computing

The children will be learning about creating their own quizzes and also about computer networks

We learn, we play, we care, we pray, in Jesus' name
