Curriculum Intent and Overviews
Every child will access a full and diverse curriculum which challenges and develops them to grow academically, personally and socially.
As spiritual beacons and through our curriculum we are all:
- Communicators
- Explorers
- Readers
- Believers
Through the delivery of our Curriculum across school we endeavour to interweave these drivers and our vision of being 'Beacons of Light.'
Our curriculum is, where possible, taught through topics and links are made across subjects. Our topics and subjects within them are planned so that there is clear progression and children can build on their prior learning too. Wherever we can, links are made to our locality so that our children have an increasing awareness of the area in which they live. However, we also consider our place in the wider world too for example in Year 3 when they study Africa and make connections with our link school in Uganda.
Each year, we have a 'Whole School Project' that links to an element of social justice either globally or locally. This is an excellent opportunity for our children to work together on something that they can be passionate about. These projects put our curriculum drivers at the forefront of learning and children can truly understand how they can be 'Beacons'. In recent years we have looked at being 'Agents for Change' where we have thought about our futures and how we can make a difference. We also looked at the Olympics in 2024 as our whole school topic.
We aim to ensure that our curriculum is fully inclusive for all pupils, including those with SEN and Disabilities we work hard to adapt learning for pupils to ensure they are fully engaged with the curriculum provided. For example lessons of a practical nature in Science or a physical game in maths. In some cases, children may require an adapted curriculum to meet their needs/targets. This is all set out within our SEN Report.
Please find the Curriculum Plans below. There is further information about each subject on the tabs on this page but if you require further information, please don't hesitate to ask.
NB: Summer 2 Whole School Topic Plans will be populated each year so that they are up to date and relevant to our chosen project.
