Summer Term

For the first few weeks of the half term, our learning will focus on revision of the key topics ahead of the SATs tests on 12th May. We will use SATs Bootcamp as well as other games and strategies to overlearn and revise.

Our new topic will be 'Rivers'. We will look at how rivers are formed and their different features. We will learn about rivers around the world as well as learning how to read an Ordnance Survey map.

We will link our writing to rivers too. We will look at some creative writing based on the journey of a river as well as a factual report on the nature that lives around the rivers. There will be an opportunity to write a persuasive letter agains the building of a housing estate near a river. Through this writing we will look to include all the grammar and punctuation skills that we have developed over our time in KS2 including colons, semi colons, relative clauses and subordinating conjunctions.

In Science, we will be learning about light and how we see things.

RE is a unit based on 'Journeys' it looks at religious pilgrimage but also gives children time to reflect on their own journeys too which is ties in with the transitions that children are making in this next term.

In Spanish we will learn to talk about our day and also about the Spanish tradition of tapas - we will get to try some tapas too!

As well as continuing our work on our Heart Smart topics we will also focus on tranistion work and preparing the children for their journey to high school.

Music will focus on our KS2 Performance.

PE will be athletics (running, jumping and throwing) and developing tennis skills and learning the rules of the game.

After half term, we will be focussing on our whole school project 'Together as One'. Through this, we will explore who we are as individuals but also what makes us different to others too. It will encourage to think about what we need to help us to live peacefully together in a diverse world.

We learn, we play, we care, we pray, in Jesus' name
